Joint Minor Program FISIP UI x Leiden-Delft-Erasmus (LDE) Alliance: Future Challenges Lab: Co-Creating Sustainable Practices in and Beyond the Indonesian City

The Joint Minor Program between the Faculty of Social and Political Science at Universitas Indonesia (FISIP UI) and the Leiden-Delft-Erasmus (LDE) Alliance represents a significant collaborative effort aimed at enhancing the academic and cultural experiences of students from both institutions. Running its 3rd year, this program is implemented under the Department of Anthropology FISIP UI in collaboration with the Department of Sociology and International Relations.

This program was conceived as a response to the growing need for interdisciplinary education that transcends national boundaries, allowing students to engage with diverse perspectives and develop a global outlook. By combining the strengths of FISIP UI and the LDE Alliance, the program seeks to create a unique learning environment that encourages innovation, critical thinking, and cross-cultural understanding.

The program’s design is rooted in the shared commitment of both institutions to provide high-quality education that is not only academically rigorous but also socially relevant. The partnership between FISIP UI and the LDE Alliance reflects a mutual recognition of the importance of collaborative learning in addressing complex global challenges. Through this program, students are exposed to a curriculum that integrates theoretical knowledge with practical experience, enabling them to apply what they learn in real-world contexts. This approach aligns with the educational philosophies of both institutions, which prioritize experiential learning and the development of well-rounded, socially conscious individuals.

Through various academic activities such as in class sessions, field visit, and fieldwork research that are spread out in four modules, the students will be introduced to a curriculum that integrates theoretical knowledge with practical experience and skill. This in hope would help them to practice what they have learned in the real world. This approach aligns with the educational philosophy of both institutions that prioritize learning through experience and individual growth.

Program Structure

  1. Duration: August – December 2026 (with a tailor made curriculum) 
  2. Participant: 25 LDE Students and 15 UI Students from various study program
  3. Lecturer: 6 FISIP UI Lecturers and 2 LDE Lecturers.
  4. Format: In Class Session, Field trip, Fieldwork Research.
  5. Modules:
    1. Bahasa Indonesia Language Course (20 in-class sessions)
    2. Future Indonesia Course (20 in-class sessions and 2 field trips)
    3. Designing an Interdisciplinary Project (9 in-class sessions)
    4. PInterdisciplinary Project Fieldwork and Workshop (3 weeks of asynchronous learning and 3 in-class sessions)
  6. Credit: 30 ECTS for LDE students and 20 SKS for UI students.
