Prof. Dr. Meutia Farida Hatta Swasono

Prof. Dr. Meutia Farida Hatta Swasono has been a Professor of Anthropology at the University of Indonesia since 2006 and has been teaching since 1979, specializing in Indonesian cultural systems, medical anthropology, and psychiatric anthropology. Throughout her career, she has developed research on ethnic groups, medical anthropology, psychological anthropology, and mental health, with a particular focus on inland and remote communities. Her research covers diverse topics such as spatial planning in community development, community responses to disease outbreaks, eating habits and nutrition, and health ethnography in the Jayawijaya Mountains region. She also highlights mental health issues within broken or disharmonious families. As a senior lecturer, Prof. Meutia has significantly contributed to establishing the scientific foundation of medical anthropology in Indonesia and has mentored generations of anthropology academics since the early 1980s.
