The Department of Anthropology, within the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) UI, offers an array of facilities designed to support a seamless blend of learning, research, and student life.

Students have access to modern classrooms equipped with the latest technology, a comprehensive library providing entry to global research databases, and versatile spaces for seminars and group discussions. To support specialized study, our integrated laboratories are available for ethnographic research and social analysis. Beyond academics, the campus provides sports facilities, dining areas, and recreational spaces to ensure a well-rounded and balanced university experience.

Lectures are held in modern classrooms equipped with full multimedia sets, high-speed internet, and hybrid learning capabilities. We also provide dedicated seminar and discussion rooms, ideal for student presentations, meetings, and various academic activities.

Libraries

Anthropology students at Universitas Indonesia benefit from access to three primary library facilities within the university environment:

The UI Central Library (Perpustakaan Pusat UI)

As a hallmark of the university, the UI Central Library houses an extensive collection of over 1.5 million titles across various disciplines. The library continuously updates its archives, maintains subscriptions to premium online databases, and provides top-tier academic services. Reading areas are spread across levels 1 to 4, with a dedicated computer lab located on the first floor. Students can access international journals both on-site and via remote access.

Miriam Budiarjo Resource Center (MBRC) atau Perpustakaan FISIP UI

In addition to the central facilities, the faculty operates its own specialized library known as the Miriam Budiarjo Resource Center (MBRC). The MBRC offers comfortable reading rooms, workstations, meeting spaces, and book circulation services. It is accessible to all active FISIP students.

Department of Anthropology Library

Open Spaces

FISIP UI features several green open spaces that serve as both recreational hubs and centers for student activities:

Tunas Bangsa Park

Formerly known as Plaza FISIP UI, Tunas Bangsa Park (TTB) was designed by alumni from the Faculty of Engineering’s Department of Architecture. This multi-functional space is a vibrant venue for student gatherings, faculty events, and campus bazaars.

Bhinneka Tunggal Ika Park

Inaugurated in 2021, the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika Park stands as a symbol of unity in diversity. It provides a serene environment for students to relax, exchange ideas, and engage in meaningful discussions.

The Courtyard or Pond Theater (Teater Kolam)

Affectionately known by students as “Teko,” this area is one of the most iconic spots on campus. It serves as an open-air stage for art performances, academic forums, and student-led activities, particularly during major events like Olimfis and Gelmab at the start of each semester.

Health & Wellness

Anthropology students at Universitas Indonesia have access to a comprehensive range of health and psychological services provided by the University and FISIP, including:

UI Hospital (RSUI)

As Indonesia’s first State University Teaching Hospital, RSUI is designed with a “Green Hospital Concept,” focusing on eco-friendly architecture and patient safety. The hospital is directly connected to the Health Sciences Cluster (RIK) via a sky bridge. RSUI offers a wide array of specialist services, with detailed information regarding medical experts and facilities available through their official website.

Makara Satellite Clinic

Located near the Faculty of Engineering, the Makara Satellite Clinic serves as a three-story primary care facility. Beyond general practice, dental care, and pharmacy services, the clinic specializes in child development, reproductive health, and geriatric care. As a primary healthcare provider within the tiered referral system, it accepts BPJS participants and acts as the first point of contact before hospital referral.

The clinic also provides free counseling services for the UI community, addressing academic, family, personal, and social challenges. Appointments with psychologists, psychiatrists, or educational counselors can be made via:

UI Integrated Psychology Clinic

Operating as a teaching clinic, this facility provides individual psychological consultation services. For further details, visit their official page or reach out via:

Vocation Wellness Center (Pusat Fisioterapi)

Situated in Room 104, 1st Floor of Building C (Vocational Education Program, Depok), the Vocation Wellness Center (VWC) offers specialized therapies for the UI community and the public. Services include physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, acupuncture, sensory integration, baby massage, and snoezelen (relaxation therapy).

Hours: Monday–Friday, 09:00 – 15:00 WIB

FISIP UI First Aid Room

For immediate medical attention or minor health complaints requiring first aid, FISIP UI provides a dedicated Health Room located on the 1st Floor of Building F.

FISIP UI Student Counseling Board

This unit serves as the initial gateway for students seeking support for mental health or personal issues that may impact their studies. Based on the assessment, students may be referred to the Makara Satellite Clinic or RSUI for further professional care.

Universitas Indonesia and FISIP UI provide a wide range of athletic facilities accessible to Anthropology students, including:

The UI Stadium

As one of the most comprehensive sports hubs in Depok, the stadium features a running track and a high-quality synthetic turf football pitch, designed for comfort in all weather conditions. The stadium’s advanced lighting system also allows for evening activities and night matches.

  • Running Track: A professional-grade track that supports extracurricular activities and student athletic development within a positive, competitive, and sporting atmosphere.
  • Soccer Field: A synthetic turf pitch surrounded by a rubberized athletic track, ensuring a safe surface for both intensive training and competitive matches.

UI Sports Center (SOR UI)

Built to promote physical wellness among the academic community, SOR UI Zone 1 features two expansive indoor halls. Each hall houses three multisport courts (six in total) for futsal, basketball, and volleyball. Supporting facilities include modern restrooms, changing rooms with lockers, storage, a prayer room (mushola), and accessible ramps for people with disabilities.

UI Gymnasium

A dedicated indoor arena for volleyball, basketball, and badminton. This venue is a primary location for prestigious inter-faculty championships and tournaments.

Felicity Festival (Felfest) UI

Originally an internal facility, Felfest is now open to the public. It offers versatile meeting spaces, indoor and outdoor lakeside gathering areas, and wedding venues. Its specialized sports facilities include a golf driving range, archery range, and a swimming pool.

FISIP UI On-Campus Sports

Within the FISIP complex, students have access to badminton and basketball courts, as well as table tennis facilities. These facilities are available for students and staff through a prior booking system.

Gedung Sarana Olahraga (SOR) UI

Dibangun untuk mendorong kegiatan olahraga sivitas akademika, SOR UI Zona 1 memiliki dua indoor hall yang masing-masing memuat tiga lapangan multisport (total enam lapangan) untuk futsal, basket, dan voli. Fasilitas pendukung mencakup toilet & kamar mandi, ruang ganti & locker room, gudang, mushola, serta tangga & ramp yang ramah difabel.

Gymnasium UI

Fasilitas olahraga indoor yang mencakup lapangan voli, basket, dan bulu tangkis, kerap digunakan untuk kejuaraan antar fakultas.

Felicity Festival (Felfest) UI

Awalnya diperuntukkan bagi kegiatan internal, Felfest kini juga terbuka untuk umum. Fasilitasnya meliputi ruang pertemuan, area lakeside gathering (indoor dan outdoor), venue pernikahan, serta sarana olahraga seperti golf driving range, panahan, dan kolam renang.

Sarana Olahraga FISIP UI

Di lingkungan FISIP tersedia lapangan bulu tangkis, lapangan basket, dan tenis meja. Penggunaan fasilitas dilakukan dengan perjanjian bagi mahasiswa dan tenaga kependidikan.

Arts and Culture

UI provides a wide range of facilities to nurture the artistic and cultural interests of its students, including those accessible to the Anthropology community:

Makara Art Center (MAC)

Situated near the Kenanga Lake, MAC serves as a vibrant cultural hub where visitors can enjoy performances from its unique rooftop area. The center is equipped with high-quality acoustics, a gallery capable of showcasing approximately 100 large-scale paintings, performing arts rehearsal studios, and dedicated workshop spaces. MAC is continuously evolving into a dynamic artistic district, designed to rival world-class urban cultural destinations.

Student Activities Center (Pusgiwa)

Housed in an eight-story energy-efficient “green building,” Pusgiwa is designed with accessibility for people with disabilities in mind. It serves as the primary hub for student organizations and student affairs. The facility is intended to streamline coordination between students and the university administration while fostering student achievement through its comprehensive and modern amenities.

Dining & Commercial Areas

FISIP UI provides a variety of dining and commercial spaces to meet the daily needs of the academic community. Anthropology students can easily access a wide range of food, beverages, and essential services located conveniently around the faculty.

Student Cafeterias (Balsem & Takor)

The faculty features two well-known student cafeterias affectionately called Balik Semak (Balsem) and Taman Korea (Takor). These areas offer a diverse selection of budget-friendly culinary options, ranging from traditional Indonesian comfort food (such as soto ayam, nasi ayam tulang lunak, and home-cooked side dishes) to quick, “warteg-style” meals. With a casual and vibrant atmosphere, these cafeterias are the go-to spots for students to relax between classes, hold organizational meetings, or simply socialize with peers from other departments.

While operating hours vary by tenant, many remain open into the evening, catering to students with late-afternoon or night schedules. Both Balsem and Takor are centrally located within the FISIP UI complex, ensuring easy access from all lecture halls.

Additional Commercial Hubs

Beyond the main cafeterias, various retail outlets and services are available throughout the campus to support student life. High-traffic spots include the ground floors of the Koentjaraningrat and Mochtar Riady buildings, as well as the areas surrounding Teater Kolam and the Nusantara building.

These locations host popular food and beverage chains (such as Lawson, J.Chicken, Janji Jiwa, Dips Ice Cream, and Tomoro), alongside cozy cafes like Maxx Coffee and Wangsa. Students can also find the Student Cooperative (Kopma) for daily essentials and a BNI ATM for banking needs.

These commercial areas are designed to provide everything from quick snacks and premium coffee to basic necessities—all within a short walking distance from classrooms and student activity centers. (Note: Tenant lists are subject to change based on management policy.)

International Language Institute (LBI) FIB UI

LBI FIB UI provides integrated language services for the university community, including BIPA (Indonesian for Non-Native Speakers), Language Service Programs (foreign language courses), and Translation & Interpretation Development Programs. As a trusted partner, LBI FIB UI is an official testing center for the TOEFL ITP and Computer-Based IELTS, while also offering German proficiency examinations.

Transportation

Airport to UI Depok Campus

Hiba Utama Airport Bus
The Depok Transportation Agency (Dishub), in collaboration with Organda, operates the Hiba Utama bus service connecting Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (SHIA) and Depok.

Route: Depok Terminal → Margonda St. → Juanda St. → Jagorawi Toll Road → SHIA.
Fare: Rp80,000.

Schedule: Departing hourly from Depok Terminal (02:00 AM – 09:00 PM). From the airport, buses run every 30–60 minutes (05:20 AM – 12:20 AM).

Airport Rail Link (Train)
Take the Airport Rail Link from SHIA to Manggarai Station, then transfer to the KRL Commuter Line bound for Bogor/Nambo, and get off at the Universitas Indonesia or Pondok Cina station.

Travel Time: Approx. 46 minutes (Airport to Manggarai).
Fare: Rp30,000 – Rp50,000.

Note: Your UI Student ID (KTM UI) can be used as a prepaid tap-card for the Commuter Line.

Alternative: Alight at BNI City Station, take the MRT to Lebak Bulus, and continue with the TransJakarta D21 bus to the campus.

Taxi & Ride-Hailing
Airport taxis and online ride-hailing services are readily available at SHIA.

Travel Time: Approx. 1–2 hours depending on traffic.

Local & Commuter Transport

  • KRL Commuter Line (Universitas Indonesia Station)
    Board any train heading toward Bogor or Nambo and disembark at the Universitas Indonesia Station. The service operates daily from 03:00 AM to 11:59 PM. You can use your KTM UI for payment.
  • TransJakarta (Route D21)
    The campus is served by TransJakarta route D21 (Lebak Bulus – Universitas Indonesia). Payments can be made using the KTM UI tap-card.
  • Ride-Hailing (Cars & Motorbikes)
    All faculty buildings and campus areas are accessible via major ride-hailing apps (Grab/Gojek). Simply pin your destination in the app for pick-up or drop-off.

Getting Around Campus

The “Yellow Bus” (Bikun)
Our iconic internal shuttle bus, known as Bikun, provides free mobility within the campus.

  • Stops: The nearest stops are located in front of FISIP UI and the Faculty of Psychology parking area.
  • Routes: Buses depart from the Student Dormitory (Asrama Mahasiswa) with two distinct routes (Red and Blue).
  • Operating Hours: Monday–Friday (07:00 AM – 09:00 PM) and Saturday (07:00 AM – 03:00 PM).

Beam E-Bikes
For eco-friendly mobility, approximately 450 Beam Rover electric bikes are available at over 42 parking spots across UI.

  • Hours: 05:00 AM – 11:00 PM.
  • How to use: Download the Beam app, scan the QR code on the bike, and follow the instructions to start your ride.

Accommodation

UI offers a variety of housing options for students and guests, located both on-campus and in the surrounding areas.

UI Student Dormitories

The UI Dormitory—specifically designated for students from outside the Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) area—features over 1,000 rooms within the campus grounds. While it is located a short distance from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), it remains easily accessible via the campus shuttle bus (Yellow Bus) or public transportation. Each room is equipped with a bed, wardrobe, and study desk. Japanese Studies Center (PSJ) Guest House

Nestled within the PSJ UI complex (conveniently situated between the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences and the Faculty of Humanities), this guest house offers a highly strategic location. It is just a 5-minute walk from UI Station or a 5-minute drive from the UI Main Gate (Gerbatama). Rates start at approximately IDR 240,000 per night. Apartments

Popular off-campus residential options among students include high-rise apartments such as Taman Melati, Margonda Residence, and Evenciio, all of which are located within close proximity to the campus.

Student Boarding Houses (Indekos)

The most sought-after boarding house areas for FISIP students are Kukusan (Kutek)—located behind the Faculty of Engineering—as well as Barel and Jalan Kober, both situated just across from the campus’s main perimeter. Students typically find these accommodations through online rental platforms, peer recommendations, or by scouting the neighborhoods directly.

Prayer Room (Mushola)

FISIP provides a two-story prayer room for the Muslim community on campus. This facility is equipped with dedicated ablution (wudhu) areas and restrooms to ensure a comfortable space for daily worship.
